July 8th (68 days at sea)
came and went with little to no fanfare. I had watch the first day in port. Kinda of a stupid watch. I was pier rover, which is exactly what the name implies I walk up and down the pier (in a military manner of course).
The stupid thing is that all I have is a radio.
Which means if shit went down I’d have no way of doing anything about it being unarmed and all.
Really sad to see all the people get off the ship all bright eyed and bushy tailed ready for an exciting day out in Singapore
. Some people and I got a hotel the second and third day out.
Wednesday (day two) was spent checking into the hotel. A very nice one name of the Swissotel: Merchant Court. 300 Singapore dollars later the check in process was done. After getting situated we went down to the bar for a drink before meeting up with shipmates for dinner. Dinner was expensive and unimpressive. I guess I had high expectations seeing as the freaking thing was like 40 bucks for the fettuccine alfredo and a beer. Then we out to a nice club and got very drunk then retired back to hotel for much needed shut eye.
Thursday was Sentosa Island day. We cruised to this huge island called Sentosa which is like an amusement park island with no rides. A lot cool stuff to be had. We went to a beach and ate overpriced pizza. Went to a butterfly show and saw overpriced butterflies. Went to a great luge ride and rode overpriced luges. After Sentosa we checked out the Singapore Flyer which Shawn suggested. An amazing sight to see we balked at the 40 dollar per ride price tag however. Still cool just to see though. After that we went back to the hotel and had drinks at the bar before going back to the club we went to the first night.
Friday was check out time. We said later to the people we had met around the hotel and parted ways. Friday was July 4th here so we went to a park and had drinks and hamburgers then checked out fireworks and live band. Pretty crappy fireworks display. To be expected I suppose.
Saturday/Sunday/Monday I just hung out and watched movie and whatnot.
Next stop Timor Leste, the most dangerous of the countries on the trip. Should be safe though. Worry not friends. After Timor its on to Australia. Which should be fun.
I got my package with the candy and jerky in it. Can’t thank you enough. I’ve been living on Red Vines and Gold Coast since Friday.
Love you all. Have a week.I leave you this quote.
